Day 6 Fort Bragg 2014

Lovely day today, all clean and sparkly after the rain.  Olivia and I went to Mendocino today.  Cute but expensive and touristy, of course I was there as a tourist too.  Bought some Christmas presents and a sweatshirt jacket for me.

My day to cook, and I made pork chili verde.  Turned out very tasty.

Worked on the Linda Ballard quilt and cut strips for a log cabin quilt I will make.

Day 5 Fort Bragg 2014

Lovely rain.  Started this morning and continued all day.  I went into town with Olivia for shopping at Safeway, and we stopped at the Sew n' So Shop and looked at all the lovely prints, but didn't buy much.

The waves were really wild today, and we did not walk on the beach today.  The water was nearly up to the bottom of the steps, and there wasn't much beach for walking on.

Day 4 Fort Bragg 2014

Another lovely day, but the weather started changing in the afternoon.  Definitely weather moving in.

We went into the local quilt shop, Sew 'n So, today.  All seven of us, plus eight ladies from another house also on a retreat.  We all hit the quilt shop at the same time, when it opened, so it was somewhat crowded.

Worked on the red, white and blue Linda Ballard quilt I started several years ago.

Day 3 Fort Bragg 2014

Sunny all day today, actually clear this evening so there was a beautiful sunset.

Finished the nurse quilt for the California Nurse Practitioners for Surani, and started a Linda Ballard from several years ago.  Actually started it before, but it has been put away for a long time, a true UFO (unfinished object).

Fort Bragg 2014 Day 2

Beautiful day at the beach.  Overcast in the morning but sunny and warm in the afternoon.  Downright hot on the beach, and climbing the 86 steps was sweaty.  Lots of people there, it being a Sunday and nice.

Worked on the old BOM quilt from about 2011, but did not have all the pieces I needed, so I stopped, and have started the throw for Surani for the Nurse Practitioners Association.

Day 1---Fort Bragg 2014

Found a road worse that Highway 20 between Willits and Fort Bragg!  Since I was leaving for Fort Bragg from Santa Rosa, I went north on US 101 and took CA 128 from Cloverdale to the coast, Highway 1.  128 is curvier that 20, and longer, much longer, then you have some more curvy along the Mendocino coast up to Fort Bragg.  The drive is lovely, through Boonville and the Anderson Valley, and then through the Navarro River Redwoods State Park. Gorgeous.

A beautiful sunny day until the coast, then overcast with fog laying out in to ocean.  The house we have rented, Serendipity, is the same one I was at before, so it was like coming home.  Very nice.

Moving and other distractions

After I got back from Ireland I immediately plunged into packing to move to Santa Rosa.  The move was started on July 17th, and finished...well, not quite yet.  It is now September 20th, and I think I am finally recovered from the move.  I actually had some energy last week.

Between then and now, lots has happened.  I went down to Oxnard over Labor Day weekend to attend my nephew, Raj's, wedding.

After getting back on September 1st, I left for Canada with my granddaughter Serena for a week.

Home for four days, I am off for a week of quilting in Fort Bragg.  This I will blog about.

This post a work in progress.  I will be posting more complete listings and photos later.
