Flinders Station |
After breakfast, Tanis and I were on
our great adventure into the unknown...Melbourne. We caught a tram
into the city, and then walked a couple of blocks to a main train
station, Flinders.
|
Looking down the train |
There we struggled with our Myki cards,
which are the cards that have to be read whenever you enter or leave
a station. Successfully coping with the card reader, we then caught
a train to a suburb named Gardenvale. Gardenvale is the site of a
quilt shop (of course!) and was as good a destination as any. We
made it to Amitie (with an accent over the e) and found it to be a
bright and cheery shop.

Collins Street tram, a moving Miller ad |
After a pleasant time there, we
reversed our journey and ended up on Collins Street in downtown
Melbourne. This is the Park Avenue of Melbourne, and we had a
enjoyable time walking down the street and window shopping.
Everything, including fabric, is so expensive, or we are so cheap,
that we don't buy much.
|
Our floating home |
We then caught the tram back to the
ship, and thus to our floating home. We did see an extremely
talented ventriloquist tonight in the showroom---Matilda and Patrick
Murray. Patrick Murray is the ventriloquist, not Matilda, who is from
Jamica, mon.

Leaving Melbourne |
