Day 3--Serendipitious Sedona

Northern Arizona flora
Left Kingman this morning about 9:00 heading east along "Historic 66."  Stopped to smell the roses, actually to take photos of wildflowers along the mostly deserted highway.  When you stop and look, there are legions of flowers missed because you are driving too fast.  The pretty yellow bunch is about the size of a quarter, and the plant that looked like a skeleton had pretty purple flowers.  Bees everywhere.  Just goes to show you need to slow down a little and live where you are.
About the size of a quarter
The whole bunch!

Pat and I in Seligman

Stopped in Seligman, which has about 200 people and about 15 souvenir shops.  Needless to say, we stopped in one of the shops.

Ummmm, coconut cream
Half of a slice!!
Sounds like a good idea to me.
Williams, which is the "Gateway to the Grand Canyon" was filled with tourists, us, of course, included.  Williams also had the first quilt shop of the trip.  We ate at a restaurant recommended by the quilt lady, The Pine Cafe, where they had homemade (no, really) pies.

On the way to Flagstaff along I 40, we realized that Sedona was only 25 or so miles from Flagstaff.  For some reason we both thought that Sedona was miles and miles into the mountains.  We decided "Why not?" and went to Sedona...as a plus there was a quilt shop there!

Enjoy!  Words do not do it justice

What gorgeous sights, unbelievable.  Just as amazing as everyone says it is.  Took so many pictures it's hard to decide what to post.  Quilt shop was good too...Quilter's Store Sedona.  Looking very pricey as far as accommodations go, we drove back to Flagstaff so it will be easy to get on 40 tomorrow morning for our drive to Albuquerque.
