Japan Day 3

Today we are to visit the western mountains and the Kiyomizu Buddhist Temple. After seeing the crowds and the 1500 ft climb, not to mention the fact that the temple is under renovation, I opted to stay in the local village and look into the shops.

After leaving the Temple we drove to the Nishiki Market area.  This is a huge covered area of many streets and hundreds of little stalls. One of our objectives was to find a needle shop that Maryanne had been to before.
That's Maryanne and the needle shop owners.
After walking back to ybus (we only got a little bit lost in the market maze) we drove (and walked) to the Kyoto Kaleidoscope Museum.
Starting with this we made our own Kaleidoscope. Fascinating, and great fun.
Back to the hotel, where we went to a food court area made up of many small restaurants. I had tempura udon. Interesting place...we were on the 11th floor of a huge department store.
Escalators to infinity.
