Second day---Hobart

Remind you of anything?

Hobart, Tasmania was in view when we woke this morning to calm seas, a welcome change after last night being tossed around, like tonight, so far. After a breakfast of Eggs Benedict (an interesting presentation, don't you think?), we went ashore. Hobart is built entirely on hills with lots and lots of bricks. A majority of the homes seems to have a sheet metal roof---guess it rains a lot here. In fact, we got sprinkled on several times while on shore, and we wore our coats as it was rather chilly.

Inside the Quilted Crow
Adventuriously, we rode the city bus out of town to to a suburb called New Town. We visited a quilt shop there, The Quilted Crow, which was housed in an old church, stained glass windows and all. In fact, the old pews were used to display fabric. The shop specialized in Civil War reproductions, which is neither Tanis' nor my favorite style, although we did manage to find something to purchase. Don't worry, we haven't spent your inheritance (YET).
Leaving Hobart

30% done (5 each!)
Back on the ship, we spent the rest of the afternoon and early evening busily stitching on our kamon medallions for our quilts. We have the second part of the class tomorrow, and want to get as far as we can. After another great meal we are in our room working on our kamon. We have to do five each, and as you can see, we have a ways to go.

  1. There the windows in the quilt/church store are great. Would be cool to see those in a quilt!
